Most forward deployed engineer courses in India offer placement assistance, which means resume help, mock interviews and introductions to employers, not a job. Very few put a guarantee in writing. Before you pay, ask for the placement terms as a document, check whether any outcome figure is an average or a median and how many learners it covers, and read exactly what you get back if you are not placed.
If you are searching for an FDE course with placement, the real question is usually this one: if I spend six months and a lot of money, will I come out with a job, and what happens if I don't? That is a reasonable thing to want answered before you pay. Course pages make it harder than it should be, because "placement" can mean anything from a resume template to a refund. I run one of these programmes, so read my bias into what follows. I have tried to quote every provider in their own published words, ours included, and you can check each one.
Do FDE courses guarantee placement?
Mostly not, and the better providers say so clearly. Here is how five of them describe placement on their own pages.
| Provider | What their page says | What that means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Fireblaze AI School | "We provide placement assistance and do not advertise placement guarantees" | Support, no promise of a job. Clear and honest. |
| Coding Ninjas × iHub, IIT Mandi | "Neither Coding Ninjas nor iHub, IIT Mandi is responsible for providing placement or job offers" | No placement obligation from either party. |
| IIT Delhi CEP | "No placement or alumni status is implied" | The certificate carries no placement commitment. |
| Scaler | "placement assistance" (resume review, mock interviews) | Career support with no placement promise. The page links to a placement report; ask for it as a document. |
| NareshIT | "5L avg package / 100% avg salary hike" | An outcome claim. No sample size, period or source was printed beside it on the page we read. |
All wording as published on each provider's own page, read 12 Oct 2026. Scaler's page re-read 12 Oct 2026: it lists "Resume review, mock interviews, placement assistance" and makes no placement promise. Pages change, so check them on the day you decide.
Notice that the first three are statements of what they will not do. I think that is to their credit. A provider that tells you plainly it offers support and not a job has given you an accurate picture. The harder cases are the ones where a strong number appears without the information you need to read it.
What does placement assistance actually mean?
It means help getting interviews, not an obligation to get you a job. Typically that is resume review, mock interviews, a job portal or referrals, and sometimes interviews the provider arranges.
None of that is worthless. Good mock interviews alone can change how you perform in an FDE customer scenario round. The trouble is that the phrase covers a wide range, so ask for specifics:
- 1How many interviews will be arranged for me, with which kind of company, in what time window?
- 2Who is eligible for those interviews, and what disqualifies me?
- 3Are those interviews for FDE roles, or for any role the provider can fill?
- 4Can I see last batch's list of companies that interviewed learners, with dates?
A provider that answers these on a call but will not write them down is telling you something too.
Before any course promises you interviews, find out which FDE roles your current resume would get past a screen for. It takes about five minutes and is free.
Run the free FDE skill checkHow do I verify a placement report?
Ask for the denominator. Every placement figure is a fraction, and the bottom half of it is where most of the meaning sits.
Use this checklist on any report, ours included:
- 1Average or median? An average is pulled up by a few large offers. As a made-up illustration, if nine learners take offers at ₹4 LPA and one at ₹40 LPA, the average is ₹7.6 LPA while the median is ₹4 LPA. The median tells you what a typical learner got.
- 2Out of how many? "Placed" out of everyone who enrolled is a very different number from "placed" out of those who finished, opted in to placement and passed the provider's own screening.
- 3Who counts as placed? Ask whether internships, contract roles, jobs learners found themselves, and learners who were already employed are included.
- 4Package or hike? A "100% salary hike" from a low starting salary can be a modest absolute number. Ask for both the before and after.
- 5Which period, which programme? A report for a data analytics batch two years ago tells you little about a new FDE course.
- 6Who checked it? A report reviewed by an outside auditor is worth more than one with no named source.
None of this assumes bad faith. Plenty of providers publish averages because averages are what everyone publishes. You are only asking for the parts that let you read the number properly. For a market-level view that does not depend on any provider's report, our India FDE jobs report shows what employers are posting, including how many ask for prior experience.
Is there a refund if I don't get a job?
Usually not. Most published refund windows are about changing your mind early, not about whether you get placed. Read them as cancellation terms.
From the pages we read on 12 Oct 2026: IIT Delhi CEP offers an 80% refund within 15 days; Coding Ninjas × iHub IIT Mandi has a 7-day refund; Futurense × IIT Roorkee charges a ₹5,000 registration fee that is non-refundable. Those are sensible terms for someone who realises in week one that the course is wrong for them. They do not protect you six months later if the job does not come.
A placement-linked refund is a different thing, and you should ask for it by name. If a provider offers a pay-after-placement or income-share plan, get the contract and read three numbers before signing: the percentage, the cap and how long the deduction runs. I have not described any such plan here because I have not read one I can cite.
What should a written job guarantee contain?
The exact promise, every condition you must meet, the time window, how you claim, and what you get back if it fails. If any of those is missing or only spoken, it is not yet a guarantee you can rely on.
Here is ours, so you can hold it to the same test. From 1 Oct 2026 it covers every NeuraPath programme, including FDE for Freshers. The sentence we publish is: "Eligible learners are covered by our job guarantee with minimum package assurance, or 50% of the fee back, for those meeting the attendance, deliverable and capstone criteria. Terms and conditions apply." The minimum package and the full conditions are in our published terms. Stated plainly, to be covered you need:
- at least 70% in every assessment;
- at least 80% live attendance;
- at least 4 logged job applications every week;
- your fees settled;
- to attend the interviews we arrange.
The window is six months from certification, and a claim is made within 21 days after that window closes.
Those conditions are demanding on purpose, and I want you to read them before you pay rather than after. Eighty percent attendance on a weekend programme means you can miss very few sessions across six to seven months. Four logged applications every week is a habit, not a formality. If you look at that list and think you will not keep it up, the guarantee will not cover you, and it is better you know that today.
"Deliverable" also means something concrete. About four weeks into our current batch, the 12 Sep class ended with a brief the trainer set for the cohort: a "Car Manufacturing & Delivery System", an object-oriented model of a real business process. That is what deliverable work looks like here: something you build, submit and get reviewed, phase after phase. A guarantee is only as real as the work it is tied to.
Who teaches, and who is this not for?
I am the Lead Instructor, and I also work as a Senior Data Scientist at Parexel, with about ten years in data science and AI and earlier freelance teaching at BIA, AnalytixLabs and Scaler. Ishaan Sharma, a Senior Data Scientist at Nuvo AI (Meril Group) and a Microsoft Azure ML Scholar, teaches the GenAI and agent phases. Classes are taught live online by working practitioners, at 10:00 AM IST on Saturday and Sunday, with optional classroom labs at our Noida centre and batches of 15–20. Each of the seven phases ends in a project a mentor reviews 1:1. In Phase 5, for example, you deploy an MCP server that exposes internal tools, with a LangGraph agent that uses it, guardrails, an eval suite and observability. EMI starts from ₹8,000/month; the full fee is shared on a free counselling call.
This is not for you if you want a job without the weekly work, because the guarantee's conditions will not be met by attending passively. It is not for you if your weekends are not reliably free for six to seven months. And if you already write production software, the 16-week FDE for Professionals track, still proposed, is a better fit to discuss. If you are weighing certificates as well as placement, read what FDE certifications are worth, and for cost, the GST-inclusive fee comparison.
What to do this week
- 1Shortlist two or three courses and email each one asking for the placement terms and refund policy as a written document.
- 2Run every outcome figure you are shown through the six questions in the checklist above. Note which ones get answered.
- 3Look at real postings on our FDE jobs board to see what employers ask for, independent of any course.
- 4If one of the conditions in a guarantee worries you, ask about it on the call before paying. The call is free.
Frequently asked questions
Do FDE courses in India guarantee placement?
Most do not. Fireblaze, Coding Ninjas × iHub IIT Mandi and IIT Delhi CEP all state on their pages (read 12 Oct 2026) that they do not guarantee placement or job offers. Where a guarantee exists, read its written conditions, window and refund before relying on it.
What does placement assistance mean in a course?
It usually means resume review, mock interviews, a job portal or referrals, and sometimes interviews arranged by the provider. It is help getting interviews, not an obligation to get you a job. Ask how many interviews, with whom, and who is eligible.
How can I check if a placement report is genuine?
Ask whether figures are averages or medians, out of how many learners, who counts as placed, which period and programme they cover, and whether anyone outside the provider checked them. A figure with no denominator or date cannot be read properly.
Is there a refund if I don't get placed after an FDE course?
Usually not. Most published refund windows, such as IIT Delhi CEP's 80% within 15 days or Coding Ninjas' 7 days, are cancellation terms. A placement-linked refund is a separate promise and should be in writing with its conditions.
What are the conditions of the NeuraPath job guarantee?
At least 70% in every assessment, 80% live attendance, 4 logged job applications every week, fees settled and attending arranged interviews, within six months of certification, with a claim made within 21 days after. The minimum package and full conditions are at neurapath.in/terms#job-guarantee.
