What a Forward Deployed Engineer actually does - and whether it fits you

An FDE sits between the engineering team and the customer. You build the system and you are in the room while it is used - scoping a vague problem, integrating with systems you do not control, demoing to people who are not engineers, and handing over something that keeps running once you leave. It is part engineer, part consultant, and that second half is the part almost nobody teaches - which is why so few people can describe the job even when they are interested in it.

02 — Part engineer, part consultant
You, the FDE
You sit between the two, build the system, and stay in the room while it is used.
- Engineer half
- Scope what is buildable, integrate with systems you did not design, ship it.
- Consultant half
- Demo to people who are not engineers, defend the result, make it outlast you.
What the role is, and what the brochure gives you
A day in the role, concretely
A client has messy data, a half-formed idea and a deadline. You scope what is actually buildable, wire it into systems you did not design, put something in front of them inside a week, then defend the result in a room where nobody else writes code. Then you make it survive without you. That is the job.
What the brochure gives you
Every phase, module and topic, how a weekend of live sessions runs, the client engagement you work on throughout, how you are assessed and where it leads. Thirty-nine pages you can read at your own pace - no call needed to get it.
We will tell you if it is not the right time
If your background says start with Data Analytics or Data Science first, the brochure's entry points and task checks will show it - and we will say so too. If you are six months away from being ready, we would rather you know what to work on than enrol now. A wrong-fit enrolment costs us more than a polite no.
Taught by practitioners, not a content team
Pankit Kumar is a Sr. Data Scientist at Parexel with ten years in the field. Ishaan Sharma is a Senior Data Scientist at Nuvo AI (Meril Group) with roughly a decade in NLP, computer vision and GenAI. You are taught by the people doing the work, not by a content team.
A typical engagement
One problem, start to finish
The loop an FDE runs again and again.
Stage 01 / 05
Turn a vague ask into something buildable
Sit with the client, separate what they said from what they need, and agree what can realistically ship this week.
- Asking the right questions
- Estimating
- Writing it down
The part almost nobody teaches
Find the balance
Move the weight between the two halves of the job.
Two-minute fit check
Is this role for you? Four questions, an honest answer.
No sign-up to see the result. Nothing is saved unless you ask for the brochure.
What's inside the brochure
Tap the parts you'd read first — then take the whole thing with you.
Still deciding?
That's what the brochure is for. The whole programme, page by page - what you'd learn, how the weekends run and where it leads. Read it first, decide later.
